Great promise, terrible battery life
Bought this to report temp/humidity in the basement. Fairly easy to setup, insert batteries, press the link button three times quickly and your done.

Homeseer nicely shows all of the relevant information and, as expected, can use events to control things based upon changes in temp, humidity, etc.

However, after about 30 days I realized that the ST814 was no longer functioning. Hmm, okay perhaps I had old batteries in it. Changed them and started paying more attention (what this isn't a configure and forget item?) I realized that the ST814 was eating about 10% of the battery every 3 days or so. I've tried to reset, reconfigure, change parameters, etc. In the end I cannot get more than 30 days per set of brand new AA batteries.

I really need 10-12 months per set of batteries to make this work. In the end the ST814 fails this requirement. Others report they don't have this problem... perhaps my unit is defective?
